Project DEHEAT funded!

Our new project ‘DEHEAT’ is one of the RV Belgica projects selected for funding by BELSPO!

With DEHEAT (short for ‘Natural analogues and system-scale modeling of marine enhanced silicate weathering’) we will be using the brand new Belgian research vessel Belgica to investigate coastal environments where silicate weathering naturally occurs. These observations will be combined with new sediment models developed at the Université Libre de Bruxelles to extract natural silicate weathering rates. The final results will be used to design large-scale virtual field trials using the COHERENS shelf sea model from the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences to assess the efficiency and full environmental impact of applying ESW on the North Sea scale. We are hiring

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher (3 year) in the field of hydrodynamical/biogeochemical modeling at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS, Brussels, Belgium). The research and model development will be done in collaboration with the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Sandra Arndt, Pierre Regnier) and Universiteit Antwerpen (Filip Meysman).
